The excitement of installing a new version of macOS, especially if its a High Sierra 10.13, is only tempered by the possibility of it not working properly or not being compatible with the apps you use most.

Before you begin upgrade to macOS make a bootable backup
OS X 10.6 showing high CPU usage after Security Update. After applying the latest security update for Mac OS X 10.6, some people are experiencing high CPU usage that is bogging down their systems. But not everyone has a Mac they can upgrade to the High Sierra. Windows users do not need to buy new Macs to enjoy all the features this operating system has to offer. Simply use VMware Player to run macOS High Sierra on Windows pc. This method can not only be used with the High Sierra but with all other macOS Mojave and Catalina.
If you haven’t started the process of upgrading yet, check if the Mac is compatible with macOS High Sierra and make a bootable backup.
Oct 06, 2017 By unchecking the box, imagent went from 200% to 0%. When I rechecked the box, imagent stayed at 0%. However, when I restarted my mac, imagent went back to 200% and I had to uncheck and recheck the box again to get it back to 0%. So until they fix it, I simply uncheck and recheck this box every time I restart my mac.
Do it now, before you do anything else. If things go disastrously wrong at least you’ll be able to boot from macOS’ Recovery partition and migrate all your data back to your Mac. You can use any backup tool you like – Apple obviously favours Time Machine, but you don’t have to use it. You can use, for example, Get Backup Pro, which comes with your Setapp subscription. Common macOS High Sierra problems
While most new versions of macOS are relatively problem-free, it’s not unknown for users to have issues – particularly with a beta or .0 release. Thankfully most are easy to resolve. Here’s how to fix the most common High Sierra issues.
High Sierra installer won’t download
If you’re trying to download the macOS High Sierra installer, you’ll need to have signed up to App Store. If you’ve done that, and managed to start the downloading process only for it to fail, force quit the App Store app.
macOS High Sierra won’t install
If the download completes successfully but the installation doesn’t finish, force quit the installer using the same procedure as above.
If that doesn’t work, try deleting the downloaded installer (it’s in your Applications folder) using CleanMyMac and download it again.
If you have a copy of macOS Server in your applications folder, that may be the root of the problem. Delete it and try again.
Getting the rainbow wheel every few seconds after upgrade
Check console.app and if you’re getting errors from sandboxd and hidd (IOKit), your problem is a third party software. It’s probably because it wasn’t supported by the new APFS file system. It tries to repeatedly update causing your Mac laptop to be stuck in an endless loop. To fix this issue, just find and remove this app and everything will be fine.
What if macOS High Sierra stops responding?
If your Mac hangs and you can’t do anything at all, wait up to half an hour to see if that helps. If not, force your Mac to restart by holding down the power button and waiting for it to shutdown and then start again.

macOS 10.13 High Sierra keeps logging out
In case you’re getting tired of you new OS kicking you out of your account on random occasions, there’s a chance it’s pretty easy to turn it off. For instance, there is a setting in your Security & Privacy menu that is responsible for that.
You can go even further and turn off the need to enter your password every time you open your Mac or turn it on. In the same Security menu find General settings and uncheck another box, the one saying “Require password after sleep or screen saver begins.” As you can tell, though, that it not the most secure option, especially if it’s your work computer or if you can expect other people getting a hold of it.
If the problem occurs when you’re using Chrome browser, disable the hardware acceleration feature: look for Advanced menu in its settings and turn off hardware acceleration.
How to fix USB devices not recognized on High Sierra
It’s not a nice thing to find out after getting a brand new system, but some Macs have been struggling with USB devices after the upgrade. If your Mac is one of them and refuses to see or read USB drives, external drives, and so on, try resetting SMC.
We’ve explained earlier in the article how to do it, but here’s brief instruction. For all laptop Macs like MacBook, MacBook Pro, and Air, simply turn it off and then on again, while holding Shift + Control + Option and the Power button for 10 seconds.
For iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, and Xserve, You start my turning off your Mac and then unplug the power cord. Chill for about 15 seconds. Look out of the window or something. Plug the cord back in, wait a couple of seconds and turn your Mac on.
If the problem remains, you can try to reinstall High Sierra or consult with customer support at Apple.
Security issues in High Sierra: Password Stealing
The only known and relatively famous security issue with the latest macOS is the password stealing code created by security researcher Patrick Wardle. Long story short, he showed that if he wanted to (and you allowed him by installing his malicious code on your Mac), he could extract your passwords from Keychain without having your master password for the system.
If you look into it, it all boils down to “Don’t get into white vans with strangers and don’t install suspicious software from shady developers on your Mac.” Basic safety precautions. Make sure you visit the developer’s website, make sure you install signed apps from trusted sources. That’s about it.
To check your safety settings, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and see if ‘App Store and Identified’ developers is selected.
Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly working hard on patching up the breach.
How to fix Mac running slow on macOS High Sierra
In case you’ve just upgraded to the new macOS and your Mac runs slower than it used to, worry not. It’s common and it’s not exactly an issue. The thing is that your Mac is reindexing a bunch of files while running a new system and it slows down its productivity and performance.
For 12-24 hours your Mac could experience these trouble and they are still within the range of normal behavior. If your Mac is running slow a few days after the upgrade, try some Mac-optimizing utilities to fix it. For instance, there is an app called CleanMyMac that can remove system junk and speed up your Mac. It’s a Mac cleaner with a set of handy utilities, some of which might come in handy.
For instance, one of the reasons for your Mac slowing down could be that some apps hog too much RAM. To see if this is the problem, try opening Activity Monitor and see which apps take to much processing power. If some of them seem to be exceedingly greedy and you’re pretty sure that’s not how it’s supposed to be, you can reset them.
To fix RAM-consuming apps, use the special module in the CleanMyMac app that we mentioned earlier, Uninstaller. Simply open CleanMyMac, go to Uninstaller, find the app in question and click Reset. The app will then lose its preferences and stored info and roll back to default settings. It’s basically like reinstalling it but without the hassle.
If your Mac goes all the way and becomes completely unresponsive or even needs rebooting, follow the instruction in our guide on how to speed up a slow Mac after installing macOS.
Fix problems with apps compability
With every macOS upgrade there are older versions of apps that are no longer supported by their developers. One casualty of High Sierra is Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. Microsoft has said that it will not offer support for it running on new macOS and it’s likely you’ll have problems with it. The only solution is to upgrade to Office 2016.
For other apps, upgrade them and check the developer’s website for details of High Sierra support. Even if an app doesn’t work with the new version of the new OS, it’s possible its developer is still working on support and it will work by the time macOS ships.
If you want to delete an app – perhaps because you’ve replaced it with a newer version – use CleanMyMac Uninstaller to make sure you delete all the files associated with the app.
Display issues on High Sierra
A few things can go wrong with your Mac’s display after the upgrade, so let’s see what can be done when they occur. You might experience troubles waking your Mac from sleep, when the display just never comes live or it does, but minutes after you’ve jammed every key on the keyboard.
Then you might also experience flickering of certain images while browsing the web. The last issue is a grey screen or a blue screen that signal something going pretty wrong with the whole Mac-to-display connection.
What you need to do to fix it is resetting your NVRAM. It’s that kind of memory that unlike regular RAM is non-volitile which means it keeps info when your Mac is turned off. That’s why simply turning it off and on again won’t help. Anyway, it’s a quick fix.
That should do it.
Fix Wi-Fi problems
One of the issues that has been reported the macOS High Sierra is with wifi signals. To analyse your wifi network after installation, use WiFi Explorer or NetSpot, both available in Setapp. Both these tools map the wifi networks within range of your Mac and identify areas where signals are either strong or weak. By using one of these apps, you should be able to tell if your Mac is having wifi problems.
If you can’t identify a problem and can’t connect to a network, try switching wifi off in the Finder menu bar, waiting 30 seconds and switching it back on again.
Bluetooth issues on macOS 10.13
Not much has been reported about Bluetooth issues on macOS High Sierra at the moment. However, there’s always one infallible piece of advice to give: re-pair your device. Find the Bluetooth icon in the upper right corner and open its preferences. If you can’t see it there, go to System Preferences and find Bluetooth menu.
Hover on the device in question and click the X-mark next to it. This not just disconnects the device, but removes it entirely from the list until you pair it back. To restore the device, set it into the painting mode and when it shows up in the list below, click “Pair.”
macOS High Sierra battery problemsMac High Sierra High Cpu For Mrt 6
Ramping up performance and adding new features while avoiding putting more strain on a battery is tough. So don’t be surprised if your Mac’s battery (if it’s a laptop) doesn’t last as long after upgrading. Use iStat Menus, available in Setapp, to monitor battery life – as well as CPU usage, fan speeds, temperatures and a host of other data. That way you’ll be able to tell if your battery really is performing less well after upgrading.
Your Mac use more power when it’s processor is under stress – partly because it generates heat which needs fans to cool it. So quit any apps that are hogging processor cycles if you’re not using them. You should also update apps to their most recent versions, and could turn down your screen’s brightness and move somewhere cooler if you’re sitting somewhere that’s particularly hot.
If your Mac’s battery hasn’t been its best self since the upgrade, try checking where the problem is. Open Activity Monitor > Energy and see which apps take up the most. Legacy java se 6 runtime for mac high sierra. Browsers and rendering software is expected to be energy-heavy, so that’s normal.
But if you’re seeing some minor applications you rarely use taking up a chunk, consider uninstalling them. You can use the specially-made CleanMyMac's Uninstaller for the job, because just dragging an app to the trash doesn’t uninstall it fully.
No Mail notifications in macOS High Sierra![]()
In case you either see mail notification for less then a second or don’t see it at all, there might be a problem with settings. Try checking if you have the notifications turned on in System Preferences > Notifications. Does you alert style say “Banner”? If it does but the problem remains, change the alert style from 'Banner' to 'Alert' or 'None'. After that you can switch it to 'Banner' again and from now on it should work fine.
APFS compatibility issue with games and Unity engine
This part is for gamers only. If any of these names ring a bell for you, don’t rush to upgrade: 'Cities: Skylines', 'Civilization V', 'Team Fortress 2,' 'Half-Life 2,' and 'Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.'
Developers of these games and of the Unity engine, joined by threads on Reddit and Steam, have all voiced concerns about the APFS system and its compatibility with the main game engine and graphic controls. So, before you upgrade, hit Reddit or Google and find out if these troubles have been resolved.
If all else fails
If a force restart doesn’t work and you can’t get your Mac to run the new OS at all, the next step is to try repairing the disk on which it’s installed.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to reinstall macOS.
https://powerupwhole935.weebly.com/microsoft-todo-for-os-x.html. When it’s done, choose Reinstall macOS and select your Mac’s main drive as the destination. Wait for High Sierra to install and restart. When you see the Setup Assistant, choose the option to migrate data from another disk and choose the external disk as the source.

What's new with macOS High Sierra?Sept. 12, 2017: macOS High Sierra public launch available Sept. 25
Apple spent the better part of two hours talking about its latest line of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and the iPhone X at its fall event. This is no surprise considering it's dubbed the iPhone event. Though Apple also mentioned the new Apple Watch, and upcoming features in watchOS 4, not a peep was mentioned about macOS High Sierra. Does this mean Apple is planning a special event just for macOS? Probably not. It just didn't merit any special attention this time around.
Outlook app for mac sierra. The good news is that Apple quietly added a release date for High Sierra on its website. The final version will be available September 25, the same day that the new iPhone and Apple Watch line will be available in stores.
August 23, 2017: Flagship creative apps will need to be updated to work with macOS High Sierra
Apple has published a new support document that details the compatibility of the company's professional apps with macOS High Sierra. Final Cut Pro X, Motion, Compressor, Logic Pro X, and MainStage will all need to be updated to their most recent versions in order to run on High Sierra:
Earlier versions of all of these applications are incompatible with the new operating system.
What, why, when, and how to get macOS 10.13 High SierraWhat is macOS 10.13 High Sierra?
macOS High Sierra is Apple's newest version of the desktop operating system. This is its second version under the new nomenclature, macOS. Last year, Apple made the switch from OS X to macOS, much to our surprise (not really).
Why High Sierra?
High Sierra is technically a minor update to macOS Sierra, though the new features are pretty amazing. So the idea is that Apple went higher with its already great Sierra operating system.
When can I get my hands on it?
macOS 10.13 High Sierra is available as a beta for developers and as a public beta right now. If you're not a developer, and don't want to risk testing the public beta, you'll be able to download it for free this fall.
If you plan on downloading the developer or public beta, be smart about it: If you only have a single Mac, make sure you create a partition to run beta software, or install on a secondary Mac you don't rely on for everyday use.
The final version, the public version that is no longer in beta, will be available September 25 as a free update in the Mac App Store.
How do I upgrade to macOS 10.13 High Sierra?
Apple makes it really easy to upgrade to new versions of its operating system across all devices. If you're unsure how to get the latest software upgrade, we have you covered with a comprehensive guide.
My Mac is old, can I upgrade to macOS High Sierra?
The latest Mac operating system will run on the following devices:
Will there be any features that won't work on my older Mac that is listed as compatible with macOS High Sierra?
Similar to El Capitan and Sierra, if your Mac was built prior to 2012, you won't be able to take advantage of the Metal Graphics framework and many of the Continuity features, but the rest of macOS High Sierra should be just fine.
How much is this new software going to cost me?
Nothing! Apple stopped charging for software upgrades quite a few years back. macOS High Sierra is a free update for all iMac, Mac mini, and Mac laptop computers that are compatible.
OK, so what are the new features coming to macOS High Sierra?
The short answer is HEVC support, APFS support, better graphics, VR support, and some fantastic app improvements. The long answer is below. Read on for details.
What the heck is HEVC?
HEVC stands for High Efficiency Video Coding. It's also known as H.265. It's a new standard for video compression that is about 40% better than the current H.264 standard. It compresses 4K video much faster and more efficiently and improves video bit-stream. It also uses less bandwidth so you can stream higher quality video in places where your internet speeds are lower. Video file sizes are much smaller, and so take up less storage space on your Mac.
Basically, HEVC is way better than H.264 for video compression and you're going to love how fast you can stream 4K movies without any lag.
Why is Apple File System such a big deal?
Every computer uses some form of file system. Imagine your Mac has a filing cabinet that a little guy goes to every time you open a file or search for something. Let's call him 'Apple.'
Apple's current file system, Hierarchical File System Plus (HFS+), works great, but he came up with his organization system more than 30 years ago. Even though he updated it about 20 years ago, he didn't actually clear everything out and start fresh. He just made some changes so he could file stuff faster and find stuff easier. Macos 10.13 high sierra lobo for pc.
Fast-forward to today, where Apple has designed a new way to organize and keep track of everything in your Mac. He got a new filing cabinet, better locks, and even added filing cabinets for your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. He also got those file folders that can be adjusted wider so he can fit more files in each one, and changed the paper weight of current files so they are thinner and more of them can fit into a folder.
What this means for you is that you'll be able to access and load your files much faster, encryption will be much stronger, duplicating files will happen in a blink of an eye (even large video files), and you'll have protection from crashes thanks to metadata copying.
Basically, it's going to make your Mac feel brand new again, and if your Mac already is brand new, it's going to make it feel like you just installed a turbo engine.
So, better graphics?
That's correct. Apple has suped up the Metal graphics processor by adding machine learning, external GPU support, and virtual reality.
Metal 2 focuses on GPU support over CPU, so things will load and process faster — up to 10 times faster, according to Apple. This is great news for game developers and might (hope, hope) open the door for more PC games to make their way to Mac in the future.
macOS High Sierra will support external GPUs, too. So even your baseline MacBook will be able to support heavy graphics programs in the future.
Wait .. Did you say VR support?
Oh, yeah. The Metal 2 framework will make it possible for developers to create virtual reality games and macOS High Sierra will make playing virtual reality games on Mac a reality.
The iMac with 5K Retina display and the iMac Pro will natively support VR. Plus, thanks to macOS High Sierra, you'll be able to add an external GPU seamlessly and play VR games. Valve has even decided to add SteamVR to the Mac.
What about the apps? Did Apple update any apps?
It sure did. Apple added some nice improvements to Photos, Safari, and Mail. There are also some pretty sweet additions to Notes, FaceTime, Siri, and iCloud. Read on to find out more.
Photos
Photos has a few redesign features, a couple of great new filters, some cool editing tools, and looping Live Photos.
Safari
Safari's biggest update is with Intelligent Tracking Prevention. It uses machine learning to find cookie trackers and stop them from following you from one website to another. So, you won't be as likely to see an add on one website for a product you just looked at on another website.
Safari in macOS High Sierra also implements an autoplay auto-block tool. Basically, if you visit a website that has an add or video that is set up to automatically blast you with noise, it won't play automatically on Safari. Blocked!
Speaking of blocked, Safari in macOS High Sierra lets you personalize what your browsing experience looks like with each website you visit. You can enable Reader View, content blockers, page zoom, and auto-play blocking. It's in the same section that used to house Reader View.
Oh, and Safari is even faster than ever before. Zoom, zoom!
When you search in Mail in macOS High Sierra, the most relevant results will appear as 'Top Hits' so you can find what you're looking for faster.
You can also use split-view when composing mail. Productivity increased!
Siri improvements
Apple gave Siri a boost in macOS High Sierra with a more expressive voice. It has better tone and talks more realistic. Personally, I like it when Siri tells a joke in a super robotic voice. I think it's funnier.
Siri is also able to learn about your music interests by connecting to Apple Music. You can ask to 'play something to help me relax' or 'make me a party playlist' and it will play songs based on your previous Apple Music activity. In macOS High Sierra, Siri also knows a lot more about the music you're listening to.
Sharing in iCloud
When you save a file in iCloud Drive, you can share it with others, just like you do in the Notes app. Using the Share tool, you can send people an invitation to edit and everyone that's using the supported app can collaborate in real time.
Apple has also added iCloud Family Sharing, which means you can invite family members to share your iCloud storage instead of everyone having their own account. iCloud Family storage plans include 200GB or 2TB of storage, so you can load up all of your photos, videos, and more.
Search for flight info with Spotlight
When you enter your flight number into Spotlight, it will search your system for all the information you need to get there on time, including arrival and departure times, terminals, gates, delays, and airport maps.
In macOS High Sierra, Spotlight also supports constellation information, celebrity facts, and lots of Wikipedia results for those really elusive bits of knowledge.
Notes
If you use a particular not a lot, you'll be able to pin it to the top of your list so it doesn't get lost in the mix every time you update another note. Keep it at the top and it'll stay there, right were you left it.
Mac High Sierra High Cpu For Mrt 2
Notes also gets tables in macOS High Sierra. It's sort of like a mini spreadsheet for keeping track of things like expenses, party invitees, and wedding plans.
FaceTime Live Photos
Have you every had a moment when you're FaceTiming with your family when someone does something so cute or so funny that you wish you could have captured it? Well, now you can. In macOS High Sierra, you'll be able to take Live Photos of the FaceTime window, and this is on the Mac, which will automatically save to the Photos app. And, before you think about taking a Live Photo without your dad knowing, you'll both get a notification when one is taken.
Messages in iCloud
That's right. Your chats, those ones you don't want to delete because they hold a special place in your heart, will no longer disappear if you download a fresh copy of an operating system. All of your Messages will be stored (encrypted on both ends) in iCloud. So, when you start using a new device, your chats with mom from a year ago will still be there.
The bottom line
Though macOS High Sierra doesn't seem like much on the surface, the under-the-hood improvements are huge. With advanced file systems, better graphics and video compression, and support for VR, your Mac is really finding its stride.
